Andrew Howard is one of the UK’s leading specialists in the politics of planning and development, with a wide range of experience working on high-profile, complex development sites across the country.
Andrew now advises a wide range of UK and international developers including Asda, Barratt London, Legal & General, Redrow, TJX, Lateral Property and Sellar Property Group.
Andrew ensured HardHat’s reputation was built upon securing successful planning consents. He has a wealth of industry knowledge ensures he provides specialist guidance on a strategic basis for our clients across sectors including commercial, leisure, infrastructure, hotels, energy, waste and resources, residential and transport. Most recently, Andrew has been advising on prestigious developments such as in Paddington with Sellar Property Group, in Camden with Morrisons and Barratt London and in Hayes and Harlington with SEGRO and Barratt London.
Establishing HardHat in 2006, Andrew was formerly Head of Communications at NHBC. Prior to this, he was active in Public Service, having served on a planning committee as a local councillor and Chaired an NHS Trust. He contested several elections as a parliamentary candidate in the south-east.
Chief Executive and Founder
Stephen is a high-level strategist and communications expert in business and media communications, with over 20 years’ experience in devising and implementing communications strategies in both the private and public sectors. He has provided advice, has managed and been instrumental in countless campaign programmes for international, national and regional clients.
James is a former freelance broadcast journalist, councillor and parliamentary candidate. He is a public affairs professional with a solid background in communications and a proven track record in delivering effective campaigns in public consultation and political relations in London and beyond.
David has five years’ experience working on public affairs and political engagement campaigns for clients across a number of sectors, including housing, property, transport, and the third sector.
He has worked with clients to raise their profile with policy makers and deliver changes to government legislation and supports developers including McCarthy & Stone to deliver local stakeholder engagement programmes.
Working in public affairs and stakeholder engagement for over five years, Tobin has significant experience devising and implementing consultation and communication strategies.
Having worked with some of the country’s leading housebuilders, he has advised on consultation and political engagement on both planning applications and strategic land allocations.
As Managing Director of HardHat, Max has overall responsibility for HardHat’s service delivery.
An industry expert, Max works with a range clients including Blackstone, British Land, Barratt London, Inland Homes, Goodman and Frasers Property Group on retail, residential and commercial developments across the UK.
Max is key in providing strategic and tactical counsel on HardHat’s most sensitive development projects, leading on some of the most complex development and planning projects across the UK; most recently working across developments in London, Birmingham, Coventry, Southampton, Bournemouth and the Home Counties.
With over 15 years agency experience under her belt across a diverse group of clients and sectors, Sam is used to delivering digital, social and campaign strategies to ensure clients’ business objectives are met in today’s challenging communications landscape.
With a strong understanding of the principles of business growth combined with a passion for creating great content, her focus is on delivering considered and integrated solutions that make an impact. Sam has worked with many clients and brands over the years including Associated British Ports (ABP), GenesisCare, Novartis, J&J and Ordnance Survey.
Jules has been helping brands engage with their stakeholders for the past 18 years. He provides overall strategic direction and leadership to Remarkable Content and works across both Remarkable Content and Engagement brands to deliver an integrated communications approach to our clients.
Director of infrastructure & energy
Jamie is a senior strategic and operational leader with over 25 years’ experience in communications; the last ten spent consulting with community groups and key project stakeholders. Prior to that he worked in the advertising industry for a number of networks and ran the CEE region for a multinational.
Clare has extensive experience working within London and the south east on a range of complex developments including housing, commercial, mixed-use and larger strategic projects for clients including Barratt London, Inland Homes, Legal & General and Mace.
Clare is also responsible for overseeing HardHat’s construction communications delivery; regularly working alongside grassroots organisations and individuals, establishing regular construction contact in London Boroughs including Camden, Westminster, Lambeth, Tower Hamlets and Lewisham. Clare also runs successful pre-application consultation programmes for a range of clients.
Clare is a public affairs specialist and former Conservative councillor in the London Borough of Croydon. She has also been a Conservative Party member for over 15 years, building a large network of contacts across local and national government, as well as considerable experience of both politics and public affairs.
Julian reports to the Board on Remarkable’s Energy & Infrastructure team and, alongside this, oversees its Manchester office splitting his time between there and Winchester. He has had a varied 30-year career delivering strategic communications solutions to clients across a variety of disciplines, from marketing and social media to public consultation and PR, and within a variety of industry sectors.
Ally is an experienced communications professional with a background in politics, stakeholder and community engagement and media relations. Ally has worked for clients involved in house building, renewable energy and regeneration projects and sits on Remarkable’s operational board. In a previous life he worked for a major political party at its Westminster HQ and at constituency level.
Andrew joined HardHat North in 2012 to lead projects from the company’s office in Leeds. He has 10 years’ experience working on planning and community engagement projects across the UK – in areas such as Manchester, Wales, Norwich and Hereford for clients including Asda, KFC and Barratt Manchester – as well as significant expertise in residential, commercial and renewable energy projects that enables him to provide expert politics and communications advice, ensuring complex issues are effectively communicated to local stakeholders.
Nick has a 15-year track record of success advising high-profile clients and now leads on HardHat projects for clients including TfL, Inland Homes, Legal & General, Eurohotels and TJX Europe on the process of securing planning consents.
Based in the London head office, Nick has grown HardHat’s client offering through his wealth of experience in many of the most controversial development sectors including prime central London residential, large strategic land allocations and on-shore oil and shale gas exploration. Focusing in London and the surrounding areas, Nick has worked on a number of high-profile developments, such as the redevelopment of South Kensington Underground Station, Kensington & Chelsea’s Genting Casino and the new opera house at West Horsley Place.
As a public affairs specialist, Nick also provides Westminster Government relations advice, specialising in energy and environmental issues. Nick was also an elected Conservative Councillor in Guildford between 1999 and 2015, serving over 12 years on a planning committee, as well as having been the Cabinet Member for planning policy for six years.
Rhiannon has delivered corporate communications campaigns for financial services and property clients for over a decade. Delivering robust parliamentary outreach for the high cost credit sector was a career highlight, successfully informing and engaging key opinion leaders in the intense political and media debate.
Rhiannon believes that strategic stakeholder communications is paramount to the delivery of a reputational communications plan and when delivered successfully can deliver strong third party advocacy. Rhiannon is a committee member for Women in Planning South and South West.
Director of Marketing & Corporate Services
As Director of Marketing & Corporate Services, Julianne manages HardHat’s design, digital, marketing, printing and fulfilment, events and production services, as well as overseeing all internal facilities management.
Julianne is also responsible for account managing one of HardHat’s key clients - Barratt London - across 25 current live developments; providing services including budget control and monitoring, key reporting, event organisation, award and bid submissions.
Working for HardHat for over eight years, Julianne has an acute understanding of the design, bids and tenders, events and production process; managing complex projects for clients including Countryside Properties, British Land, the Government of Panama, Barratt London and Redrow, on large-scale projects through from conception to delivery, ensuring the final product is delivered on time, on budget and to the highest possible standard.
Alice has recently joined the London office supporting the Director of Marketing to ensure the effective delivery of marketing and new business materials and coordination of events. Alice also helps to oversee HardHat’s print and design function, ensuring a high level of quality in all marketing materials and provides executive support to the design and production studio.
Prior to joining HardHat Alice completed a degree in English Language and Communications at Cardiff University and then worked for a leading gap year travel company. In this role she gained experience in creating content, executing social media campaigns and enhancing the company's brand awareness.
Alex joined HardHat having previously worked in the Management Consulting arm of a Technology Services company. In this role he gained experience in stakeholder engagement and global change programmes providing expertise and knowledge to clients.
He graduated from University of Nottingham in 2013 having completed a Masters degree in International Relations. Alex supports the HardHat team as an Account Executive on a number of projects across the UK, including London, Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire.
After completing a Masters in Legal and Political Theory at UCL in 2013, Geoffrey worked for a PR and communications start-up. In this role he focused on managing PR campaigns for small businesses, liaising with the media and delivering political monitoring.
Geoffrey now works on numerous HardHat projects across London for clients including Barratt London, Sellar Property Group, Legal & General, British Land, Mace and Lateral Property, providing key support to the client and HardHat teams.
Before joining HardHat as the lead member of the design team, Tim Gavin designed content for the likes of communications professionals Stream and Manchester United. He oversees all of HardHat’s creative projects and ensures that every piece of work we produce meets the high standards that our clients have come to expect. Tim can produce digital and printed materials working on websites and materials for all of our clients in our dedicated design team office.
Junior Graphic Designer
A recent addition to the HardHat team, Damjana is a Junior Graphic Designer with a passion for branding and identity. Her 2015 Masters project - an urban design concept and branding book - was awarded Best Student Project of the Year at the Faculty of Applied Arts in Belgrade.
Prior to joining HardHat she completed a design and marketing-focussed internship at Leyden Gallery in London.
Senior Account Manager
Chris previously worked as a senior advisor to the Leader of the London Borough of Lambeth for four years, where he provided political oversight over key policy areas. He also led on the implementation of the Leader’s policy agenda, with political oversight of the Local Plan among his responsibilities. Key development projects includes advising the Leader on the Shell Building, Elizabeth House and the Garden Bridge. Before joining HardHat, Chris worked on a number of residential and commercial schemes across London and the South East, including for Berkeley Homes, Hyde Housing and the BFI.
Prior to working for an inner-London authority, Chris worked for the NHS Chief Executive at the Department of Health.
Chris has also worked as a speechwriter and researcher for two Labour Secretaries of State and their Ministerial teams.
Priya has two years’ experience working on local & national public affairs and stakeholder engagement campaigns for clients across a number of sectors, including property, health, energy and housing.
Priya is a Council candidate for the 2018 local elections. She will be contesting a seat in the Edgware ward for the London Borough of Harrow.
Chris leads the company’s research and monitoring services, providing a vital role to all clients. Chris is providing construction communications support and works closely with the site team on projects in Blackfriars, Greenwich and West Ham.
Since joining Remarkable Group, James has delivered invaluable assistance on numerous projects within the house building and healthcare sectors. Prior to joining Remarkable, James obtained First Class Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Philosophy from the University of Leeds.
Senior Account Executive
Prior to Remarkable Peter was at the Houses of Parliament, where he worked for both a Lord and an MP. During his time in Parliament he gained a strong understanding of the legislative process as well as business and work and pensions policy.
Since coming to Remarkable Peter has been able to use his experience to great effect in his work on several national public affairs accounts.
